Gantan
In January, people flock to make their first shrine visits of the new year. Visitors who come to the shrine during the first three days of January number over 700,000. The shrine has a parking lot that can hold up to 3,000 cars (free of charge).
Hatsuuma Festival (the first horse day in February)
This day is commemorative of the enshrinement of the god Inari Okami. Prayer begins at 0:00 a.m. Visitors flock the shrine for the whole day, mostly praying for success in business. Events such as Hirado Kagura, Menburyu, Isseiburyu and folk song performances are offered on the grounds.
Setsubun Festival (February 3)
The Setsubun Festival is held at the Gohonden. For years, the day before the first day of spring (according to the Japanese calendar) has been celebrated and is called Setsubun. On this day, representing the change from winter to spring, the festival is held to cleanse the new year of evil spirits accumulated in the past year. After the festival, the ceremonial scattering of dried beans is held at the shrine (for a total of five times at one-hour intervals from 10:00 a.m.). Additionally, the Setsubun raffle is held concurrently.
Reitaisai Festival (the first horse day in March)
At the Yutoku Inari Shrine, the Reitaisai Festival is held on the first horse day in March (according to the solar calendar) to praise the virtue of the god Inari Okami and give thanks for the god's generosity.
